There are some steps for how to remove blackheads safely with a blackhead extractor. You certainly don’t want to risk the possibility of infection and aggravate your acne.

Not to mention acne scars!

A dermatologist certainly knows how to remove blackheads safely but he’s going to charge you dearly. You can eliminate his cost by following this procedure and doing it yourself with a blackhead extractor.

What Is A Blackhead Extractor?

A blackhead extractor is exactly what its name implies. A device used to extract blackheads.

There are several types on the market but the one I recommend for home use is the double loop type. This device is made of stainless steel and has a loop on each end.

One of the loops is small and the other is large so you can fit the loop size to the size of the blackhead.

Extractors are inexpensive and widely available.

How to Remove Blackheads Safely

The very first step for safely removing blackheads is to sterilize the blackhead extractor. Sterilize your extractor by placing it in a clean bowl and covering it with isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for 30 minutes.

While your extractor is soaking you can prepare your face for removing blackheads. This is best done with warm moist heat.

The easiest method for doing this is to heat up a washcloth with hot tap water and place it on your face. Don’t let it cool down however. You might have to reheat it a couple of times.

This will open up your pores and prepare your face for blackhead removal.

Remove the blackhead extractor from the alcohol and wipe it dry with sterile cotton balls.

Gently place the appropriate sized loop of the extractor around the blackhead. Apply a small and even amount of pressure pulling downward towards your chin until the blackhead releases.

Immediately apply alcohol to the area with a sterile cotton ball.

Continue with this process until you have removed all the blackheads you can see.

Once you’ve completed the procedure cleanse your face with a mild cleanser. Rinse with cold water to close up your pores and pat dry.

Apply a light moisturizer containing alpha hydroxy acids. The acid is a natural antibacterial and exfoliant and will help prevent the pores from clogging up again.

How To Remove Blackheads Forever

If you have suffered from blackheads for many years and have tried everything to get rid of them, don’t give up just yet. There are quite a few blackheads treatment programs that you still have to try. Blackheads are caused when an excessive amount of dead skin is shed, but then plug and block the pores.

It is important that you make sure you exfoliate your skin regularly to prevent this buildup. However, if you suffer from this problem, below you will find some useful tips. People that suffer from blackheads on their nose will find that this can be really frustrating.

Exfoliate – Make sure that you use a mild exfoliator with a combined benzoyl peroxide. The exfoliate will rid you skin of all dead skin and also expose the blackheads. While this is happening, the bensoyl peroxide will break it up and clear it. There are many people that use too much benzoyl peroxide and others do not dilute it enough. Other things people tend to do is over-scrub when exfoliating.

You have to remember that you only need to exfoliate twice a week. Making sure you use a low benzoyl peroxide, you will know that you have chosen the best option for breaking down the buildup of blackheads on the nose.

Pore-Strips – You could also use pore strips for blackheads treatment since it is advertised everywhere. This works by pasting it on the infected area and it sticks to the blackheads like glue. After a certain amount of time, you pull it off and “Voila!” blackheads are gone.

This is a fair way to remove blackheads from the skin, but you will want to consider a clinical aesthetician who will not cause too much damage to the skin. This is a more effective treatment against blackheads.

Make sure that if you are going to be using the pore strips that you do not go overboard. These strips could aggravate your skin and could cause blackheads to appear more than usual.

Blackhead Dissolver – This you will be able to find at your local drug store. This treatment dissolves blackheads in 3 weeks and it is made using natural plant extracts. The plant extracts reduce the cellular production and then help your skin’s follicles open up. This is a treatment that not only works for blackheads but will also treat dandruff, eczema and many other conditions. The extracts in the blackhead dissolver soften the lipids and then eventually break them down.

When you use a blackheads treatment such as the dissolver it is very important that you not allow your skin to dry out or become dehydrated for long. If this happens, the plugs will harden and will cancel the treatment completely. You will be wasting your time. If you have dry skin and you are going to use this product, make sure that you moisturize your skin or it will become drier.

There are products that you can look out for that balances the skin so that the dryness and the oil production can end. Make sure you research these blackheads treatments further before making a decision.
