Acne is the most common, chronic skin disorder and is endured by millions of people worldwide. Most people mistakenly see acne as only a skin disorder that affects teens. However, acne brings with it some significant psychological effects in even the mildest of cases and can strike adults as easily as it affects teenagers. The psychological effects are not to be taken lightly. Along with the physical aspects of acne, many people develop low self-confidence and low self-esteem as a result of acne and the social impact it can have on us. In fact, many teens and adults endure a significant amount of embarrassment, ridicule and depression when faced with a severe acne problem. Because of this, a significant amount of research has been conducted to help find more effective acne cures. The goal, of course, is to find a treatment or series of treatments that works well in most cases which can help improve this emotionally crippling skin condition for the majority of acne patients. Click Here For Acne Cure Naturally Instant Access! Its unfortunate, however, that even after years of research, experts still cannot determine a single, definitive cure for acne. Instead, acne sufferers have a host of possible acne solutions to choose from including over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs your doctor can provide. Since most people react differently to different acne treatments, it stands to reason that some of these will work better than others depending on your own reaction. Throughout the process of a bit of trial and error, youre likely to find a treatment that proves effective. However, its important to understand a bit more about the various options available to you. Over-the-Counter ProductsOver-the-counter products are by far the most common type of acne treatment. They are widely available and quite popular among many acne patients. These types of products include the various cleansers, creams, moisturizers and such that line the store shelves of your local drug store. These types of products, more accurately termed cosmetic products rather than medical products actually help improve the skin, which in turn helps the overall acne condition. Using these over-the-counter products can help remove whiteheads and blackheads, clear the pores and keep the skin soft and well moisturized. By doing so, youre helping your skin fight back against acne but for more serious outbreaks, you might need something with a little more bite. Click Here For Acne Cure Naturally Instant Access! Prescription DrugsFor something a little stronger, you might have to seek out the guidance and expertise of a dermatologist. They can typically provide topical antibiotics or other medications which you can only get by prescription. More often than not, the topical treatments work by attacking the bacteria that infect the pores (one of the factors that cause acne). But like many of todays medications, its suspected that long-term use of these sorts of treatments only helps the bacteria become resistant to their effects. In addition, there might be some unwanted side effects associated with these cures depending on which solution your doctor provides, so be sure to get a good understanding of them before you start your treatment. br

Do You Know This Secret Chinese Approach To Acne Cure?
December 9th, 2009Author: Evedawnbr

One of the most difficult things to cure is acne in adults. But with Chinese medicine for acne it is quite possible to achieve.
The Chinese approached this from a different perspective, and states that any disorder or ailment is due to lack of harmony with the environment, and this is the principle they applied to acne cure, a complete departure from the western approach which focuses on the immediate cause of the lesions themselves.
Acupuncture and herbal remedies are adopted in Chinese medicine to treat acne. The disharmony is thought to be heat on a Meridian Channel, or a Zang Fu organ, or even a fundamental substance, and when this heat is removed, it would release the energy flow thus enabling the body to clear the infection.
Although orthodox medicine is quicker and less troublesome for acne, they are often ineffective or have undesirable side effects. The Chinese method offers a more balanced and long term cure.
However, herbal remedies are used more often and are generally more effective, but they involve a mixture of internal and external applications. The internal herbal treatments are also directed toward the five possible points of disharmony, and once again a certain amount of trial and error is needed. The external treatments involve direct application of pastes and creams to the lesions themselves.
The patients history is usually indicated in the treatment as this may provide insight into the most effective points for treatment. The idea is that acne is an unnatural condition and its presence indicates something has gone out of balance in the patient, and it is hoped the treatment would seek to restore the balance enabling the body to use its own resources to clear the acne./pbr

The use of laser technology has totally changed the world of beauty as we know it. Laser treatments have eliminated the need for long and painful medical procedures for many who suffer from skin and hair conditions of all types. Laser treatment is ideal for both men and women and aside from treating problem areas it can also aid in the health and appearance of your skin.
What does laser treatment do?
In laser treatments, lasers produce pulses of high-energy light that are then applied to the targeted area of skin or hair. In skin treatment processes the laser is used to destroy the damaged skin and promotes the growth of new tighter and smoother skin in its place.
Laser treatment can be effectively used in a variety of areas
Hair removal- Lasers have proven to be one of the most effective ways of removing unwanted hair all over the body. Some of the most common areas that are treated for hair removal include the bikini area, face, arms, legs, chest, and the back. It is important to note that laser hair removal works best on individuals with dark hair.
Acne treatment- Laser treatment is often used to treat acne and the scarring it causes. Laser treatments for acne include skin resurfacing and photo rejuvenation, amongst other treatments. Laser acne treatment is ideal for those who have sun damage, scarring, and uneven tones.
Wrinkle treatment- Excessive laugh lines, crows feet, and other lines on the skin of the face and neck are often issues that many women and even men seek to treat. Laser usage is effective in this area because it allows the skin to be treated without having to undergo invasive medical procedures. If you have wrinkles that are fair to moderate in their appearance then laser wrinkle treatment can work wonders.
Laser treatment is often conducted in medical clinics or even some upscale spas. A local anesthetic and sedative will be provided to numb the area(s) that will be treated and to help you remain relaxed throughout the procedure. Most laser treatments take place over the course of 2 to 6 weeks and are followed up by routine check-ups, however most patients are often able to see results within 24 hours.
What to do before you seek laser treatment?
Meet with a doctor or laser treatment professional that can help you determine if laser treatment is right for you and what methods of treatment would be best. Remember to be realistic in your expectations, after all laser treatment is just that a treatment and can not correct all imperfections.

What Is Acne And Its Types
November 21st, 2009Author: Ryan English
Source: articledashboard.com
With all this talk about acne, we might as well try to define the condition a bit. Acne is the commonly used name for pores clogged by sebum (also known as whiteheads and blackheads), pimples, nodules or cysts that can appear on the face, neck, shoulders, chest, back, upper arms and upper legs.
Most teenagers and a good number of adults suffer from acne for more or less extended periods of time. The condition is not confined to any age group, race, or sex. It affects hundreds of millions of people across the world. The biggest problems with acne are the unpleasant look of pimples and the scars they may leave behind.
Types of Acne
Although pimples are by far the most common form of acne and the one most people are likely to encounter or suffer from, you should known that there are other forms as well. The simplest form is acne vulgaris, which features only comedones, the simplest of lesions.
Lesions are small patches of skin affected by acne, although the term “lesion” is not restricted to the changes produced by acne in skin tissues. Acne lesions are the external form of comedones, the sebaceous follicles plugged by excess sebum.
Comedones are known as blackheads and whiteheads, depending on whether the pore is open or not. Blackheads are pores whose distended openings are blocked by a mixture of keratin and sebum that is blackened at the surface. Whiteheads are closed pores filled with the secretion of the sebaceous gland that swells underneath the tissue.
Comendones are the usual target for picking and squeezing. However, opening a follicle in the less than sterile conditions of your home is likely to result in a slight infection. An open pore is an entry point for all kinds of bacteria.
Papules – The papule is a small, solid usually inflammatory elevation of the skin that does not contain pus. Very small papules can also appear in clusters, due to the tissue’s response to acne.
Pustules – Pustules are small inflamed elevations of the skin that are filled with pus. The pus is a combination of bacteria, white blood cells and dead skin cells. Pustules are usually formed around sebaceous follicles and hair.
Maculae – A macula is a red spot on the skin left behind by an acne lesion. Maculae are flat, red and stand out against the surrounding skin. A group of maculae gives the face an inflamed aspect.
Nodules – The nodule is a solid lesion, one of the most painful lesions caused by acne. Nodules tend to extend into the deeper layers of the skin and are known to lead to tissue destruction. They can be very painful to remove and leave scars behind. Nodular acne is a severe form of acne that is treated only with isotretinonin.
Cysts – Cysts are lesions shaped like capsules and contain liquid or semi-liquid pus similar to that found in pustules. However, cysts are larger than pustules and can be infected. Cysts are also extending deeper into the skin and leave scar tissue behind. Nodulocystic acne is probably the worst type of acne known to man. It is resistant to treatment and responds only to isotretinoin, the substance obtained from Vitamin A.

Preventing Acne Tips For Everyone
November 15th, 2009Author: SkinXpert

Acne isn’t limited to teenagers and raging hormones unfortunately. While it might seem that they have corned the market on pimples, you can get acne at any age. Acne forms when the pores on the skin become inflamed because of dirt or oil that gets stuck. And while there are some hormonal causes to blame, sometimes the best defense if a good cleansing routine.
A lot of people believe that washing your face a lot will help to prevent acne entirely – but this is not the case. In fact, the more you wash your skin, the more you will irritate it and make it more susceptible to acne. The skin responds to frequent washing by producing more oil in order to restore the natural moisture balance. And this can lead to even more clogged pores and acne breakouts. To combat this, you will want to choose a mild cleanser – preferably soap free – that you will use on your face one or two times daily. Simply take some of the cleanser in your palm, add warm water, and then apply to your face, rubbing the cleanser into your skin with a moderate pressure. Rinse the cleanser off completely to ensure that no cleanser remains that might lead to problems too.
For many people, toners aren’t something they consider for preventing acne, but they work and need to be a part of your cleaning routine. A gentle toner can help to remove deep down oils and dirt as well as any cleanser that might have been left on the skin. There are hundreds of cleansers available on supermarket and drugstore shelves, though a simple witch hazel can work fine too. Apply the toner to a cotton ball or pad, and then apply to the face, avoiding the eyes. It’s cool and refreshing on a hot day and really helps to cut down on grime.
What a lot of people don’t realize is that when you wash your face, you’re stripping it of moisture. When this happens the skin wants to get back into balance, so it starts to produce more oil that can lead to breakouts. To stop this from happening, you will want to add a water-based moisturizer as your last cleansing step. If you want to use an acne treatment, apply that first before moving onto this step. A light moisturizer helps the skin feel as though it’s not out of balance, so it won’t produce more oil.
There are two main ingredients in over the counter acne treatments – salicyclic acid and benzoyl peroxide. These kinds of treatments should be applied as the last step of your cleansing routine at night, but before you apply moisturizer. If you can deal without the moisturizer, that’s even better. This allows the skin to have time to use these ingredients to dry up oil.
Preventing acne is simple when you take the time each day and night to take care of your skin. While you may never be acne free, chances are very good that you won’t have to deal with flare ups as often.
